Raining Jane

Raining Jane is Mai Bloomfield, Becky Gebhardt, Chaska Potter, and Mona Tavakoli. The four have been making music together for nearly 2 decades and the power of their long herstory together comes across in their vibrant stage chemistry, their intricate harmonies, and the impact they’ve made through music around the world and at home in Los Angeles.

They got their start touring the national college market –fresh out of college themselves. Committed to handling all aspects of the business, they independently managed and booked a heavy tour schedule, grew an extensive fan-base, and released 4 albums, including The Good Match, which was recently re-released on vinyl.

In 2006 Raining Jane opened a show for Jason Mraz, marking the beginning of a new chapter of collaboration. The 5 had an instant musical chemistry that led to a steadily growing catalog of co-written songs –the first being “A Beautiful Mess.” In 2014 Mraz released Yes! which featured 11 of their co-writes (including “Love Someone”) and had Raining Jane as his band in the studio and on the world tour.  In 2018, Raining Jane joined Mraz’s “superband” touring for his album Know, which they recorded vocals for, and which features the single “Have It All” (co-written with Raining Jane.)

The spirit of collaboration, and the desire to make a difference in the world has fueled Raining Jane’s journey every step of the way. In 2010 they funneled their creative energy into starting “Rock n’ Roll Camp for Girls Los Angeles.” The non-profit is dedicated to empowering girls through music by giving them a place to express, collaborate, take risks, and be heard. As an all-female band that has carved their own path for 20 years, and in part thanks to many helpful hands along the way, they know how valuable that support can be.
